BeFirst Industria Award - Project

MBA project for BeFirst wins “Best Use of Brownfield in Placemaking” award

We were thrilled to see our project “Barking Industria” for Be First Regeneration Limited winning Best Use of Brownfield in Placemaking at the Planning Awards 2023.

The Planning Awards highlight exceptional achievements in the planning and placemaking industries, acknowledging excellence in various disciplines such as heritage conservation, urban design, economic development, partnership working, environmental consultancy, housing and law.

Barking Industria is a bespoke building complete with helical ramp to facilitate access to the 1st and 2nd floor levels and it is one of the first of its kind to be completed in the UK. It represents a new wave of urban industrial buildings that are built to be integrated within mixed-use townscapes. This development not only offers superior urban design, but also provides essential amenities to support local communities while attracting and retaining skilled professionals.

It was a pleasure to be involved in this project where we had the opportunity to undertake the design & management of utilities, and perform the building services design for the landlord and factory areas.

Full case study can be found here.

Associate Director and Lead Engineer of the project, Kieran Sexton said

“Having worked on the design of several multi-storey industrial and logistics projects, it is great to see the first come to fruition. Given the outstanding quality of this development, we are hopeful that occupier demand will be strong and Industria will pave the way for many more multi-level urban logistics schemes in the future.”

Congratulations to everyone involved!
